Behaviour and understanding it.

To achive the greatest joy by owning a dog, you need to understand how the dog "works". Both in the mental and physically levels and stadiums.
That's why I am so extremely happy to experience trainers develop in understanding these things by educating them selves. I hope it will continue like that.

The trainers and instructors at our training centre, all have an intensive and long education both in training classes of dogs and in private training sessions. The trainers are only concetrating working with one specific owner and his dog, as well as they are educated in understaning the owners frustrations. They help them work it out, by teaching them to understand their problems with the dog and teach them how to work them out.

They are trained to see the difference between a training problem and a behavioural problem. If it's a behavioural problem one of our behaviorists will get involved.

The ancestor of the domestic dog is the wolf and that's why it helps us understading the behaviour of our pet dogs by studying the behaviour of the wolf.

The wolf is an oppertunist in such a great scale, that he wouldnt be able to survive in nature If he got worried by small things like human does. He solves the problems instead of letting them eat him up from the inside.

We, the dog owners must understand and be aware of our pet dogs still are 80-85 % genetically and behaviorally close to the wild wolf. That's a lot and naturally it will show and appaer in the behavior of the dog. That gives a lot of answers of why dogs do what they do and how they do it.

Thats why I have spend many many years travelling between Denmark and U.S.A to get "hands on" experiences with wolves. The behavioral patterns I have seen and experienced within the wolves, I can and I have transferred a lot into understanding the dogs behavior, movements, mating, the development of puppies and so on. The harmony, close relationship, deeply respect and cooraporations I've seen in wolf packs, is my deepest wish to transfer to the relationship between dog and owner so we see cooperation and respect instead of "just owning a dog".

To achive a good doggie life it is very important for the dog to meet the same kind of respect and understanding from his family, as his gens tells him he would meet in a wild pack of dogs or wolves.

Living in a pack, with that specific kind of structure we see in a pack, is something the dog is genetically set for, and therefore he can't just ignore it. That is one of many reasons why problems are occuring between dog and owner/family. As the only family is pack he knows (human family) lives in a family and "speeks" a language so far from the pack stucture and language, his gens tells him to use and understand. Dog language and human language ARE NOT the same and many problems occure because the meening of dog language and human language is so different. We demand the dogs to ajust to the life we offer them, but it is often so far from the dogs true needs.

We as dog owners owe to our dogs to take time to get to know the dogs language and naturally behavior, but also learn what kind of drives that gets the dogs to do things we simply do not understand.

Many many things that we humans describe as problem behavior are completly normal behavior for a dog, but the specific behavior isn't suitable and appropriate in the so called civilizied world.

To understand and respect each other instead of demand totally adjustment to the life we offer a pice of the nature WE chose to bring into our lives, could solve a lot of the problems we experience with dogs. The chance to avoide problems is even bigger that way.
